Hi Mario & Piera, thanks a lot for being such great hosts. We really enjoyed staying at Podere Capiteto. Beautiful location, comfortable rooms, great pool! And on one or two days the air conditioning was very welcome. We'll be telling all our friends about you. Once again, thanks from Ronnie & Barbara

My husband and I were lucky to stay here for a couple of nights during our honeymoon. We did not want to leave. The property is absolutely breathtaking, and we had plenty of space and comfort in the apartment. We really enjoyed it because there were plenty of vineyards that were not far to drive to, and we could walk 5 minutes up the road to catch a bus to Florence. The owners were extremely helpful and made sure we had a great time while we were there!

Here are some random impressions about our week at Podere Capiteto. We write these notes from our train heading from Florence to Roma. Nothing literary, just random thoughts that may be of help for travelers looking for something really beautiful, traditional, with plenty of human substance and love: la Toscana.
Podere Capiteto IS la Toscana, the quintessential representation: the landscape, the old nicely refreshed housing, the olive trees, laurel shrubs, little flowers all over and the proprietors, Piera and Mario, make Podere Capiteto an ideal place for anyone that wants to taste the true Toscano charm and soul. A 30 minute drive south of Florence, Podere Capiteto offers the unique setting for "agroturismo". If you are an aficionado of Toscana agronomy Mario is your source. A doctor in agronomy, and practicing agronomist for over half century, he will delight you with his encyclopedic knowledge on the field, speaking his most erudite Italian also good English , French, Spanish or some German.
Old world charm meets life exhilarating, each day spent amidst aromas of herbs and flowers, sun in blue skies or clouds building on the stunning horizon, vista of Firenze in the near distance, and promise of all things of nature, art and poetry for the resident or visitor to inhale. Immersion in an ancient world beckons and delivers. Podere Capiteto will meet expectations of anyone seeking the true Bella Toscana.
The swimming pool deserves a special mention: surrounded by olive trees and beautifully designed flower arrangements is a good sized, well designed, well kept, crystal clear water pool under the bright blue sky is of Toscana. But the pool is reserved only for the brave one courageous enough to take the chill of the first jump...after a couple of minutes the water is just fresh, like the early mornings in Podere Capiteto.
Listening, smelling, and seeing...the senses get the full treat in this haven. Close enough to Florence for an easy trip for the day, it somehow feels remote and belonging to a different time. Do not expect a chain hotel; instead indulge in a truly sensual experience that will take you away from the ordinary.
The “Festa dell Uva” in the nearby town of Impruneta is a must for the end of September traveler. The whole town, this is the four competing boroughs, goes to the main square on the last Sunday in a monumental display of highly decorated floats, theater and dances. Do not miss it if you are nearby. Get tickets for a better, more comfortable view. Do visit the vendors in the little park by the main square and sample some of the Tuscan food and artisan offerings for sale or just a taste.
