Agriturismo “Podere Casa Nova” is the ideal place to pass a wonderful holiday in the Chianti countryside in an ancient property redolent of the history of the area. Our vacation apartments are in the country but within easy reach of the small town of Greve in Chianti. Apartments for 2 or 3 guests, each apartment with a private terrace and access to a very large, shady garden. Footpaths lead directly through the fields and vineyards towards the regional park of Monte S. Michele.

Payment Conditions

We request a 30% deposit paid by bank transfer at the time of confirmation of your reservation. This deposit is forfeited for cancellations made less than 30 days prior to arrival. The balance should be paid upon arrival in cash.


The main house of Podere Casa Nova

The holiday apartments of Podere Casa Nova

“Podere Casa Nova” was originally a farm house but was used after the mediaeval period as a staging post for travellers passing between Florence and Sienna. The structure of the original stables is still easy to see in the front of the ground floor of the main house (picture above, left). During the 19 C, the property once more became principally a farm and remains so today.

Two of the dependencies have recently been restored and converted into comfortable and spacious (50 sq m) vacation apartments (picture above, right). They have typical Tuscan country kitchens with traditional furnishings and a large double bedroom. Casina Mario has one double bedroom and Casina Marra has a double bedroom plus a bunk bed for two children. The bathroom facilities are bright and modern. Each apartment has a private terrace with table and chairs, and access to the large garden of the farm.

The cantina (wine cellar) of the farm dates from the original settlement of the property, and Sig. Ceccatelli will be happy to let you taste (and buy) his chianti wine, vin santo and olive oil, all produced using traditional methods.









The location is ideal for children who can run about freely without danger from traffic. Paths through the back of the farm lead up into the hills, and for the fit and enthusiastic it is possible to walk all the way to the top of Mount San Michele which is located in a national park. Much of the route within the park is sign-posted and the transition in flora with altitude is clearly discernable. Lamole is also within hiking distance and offers some of the most spectacular views in Chianti plus an extremely good restaurant.









How to get to Podere Casa Nova

Podere Casa Nova is located among fields and vineyards on the road from Florence to Sienna, only 1 km from Greve. There is plenty of parking space inside the property and the bus stop for the SITA pullman bus to Florence is nearby. The bus journey to Florence takes 45 mins to one hour and passes along the scenic Chiantigiana road through Strada or through Ferrone, ending at the SITA bus station near the central railway station of Florence. There are numerous intermediate "upon request" stops. The bus will also take you in the opposite direction to nearby Panzano, and in some seasons it goes all the way to Sienna.
