The Alta Maremma is a very diverse region ranging from coastal plains to inland hill country, dotted with hilltop villages and towns, thermal spas, Etruscan ruins and several famous wild life reserves. It is still off the beaten tourism track despite being within easy reach of Siena and the beach resorts. This means that prices of accommodation and restaurants tend to be significantly lower than more famous areas of Tuscany.
